Assistant Manager, Enterprise AI Engineering

Location:

Hong Kong China

About the Job

Our enterprise AI assistant, data agents and business agents are used across the Group, and they need a shared foundation that is secure, observable and fast to build on. As Assistant Manager, Enterprise AI Engineering, you will work closely with our architecture lead to build that foundation: how AI agents connect to enterprise systems, act with each user’s own permissions, are evaluated before every release, and run within cost and compliance limits across regions. You will join a Hong Kong-based team that supports the Group’s international development, working with colleagues across Mainland China, Hong Kong and overseas.

Your First-Year Priorities

  • Establish a shared identity, access and audit framework for our enterprise AI assistant, conversational analytics and third-party agents.
  • Embed automated evaluation and regression testing into every release to support consistent quality.
  • Establish logging, tracing, alerting and cost monitoring across production AI services, including the model gateway.

Key Responsibilities

AI Platform & Integration

  • Develop a shared tool layer using Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect AI agents with enterprise systems and knowledge, with consistent identity propagation, access controls and audit trails.
  • Integrate third-party AI workbenches and agent platforms with our single sign-on, shared tools and governance controls.
  • Build and maintain a model gateway that routes requests across international and Chinese models according to data-region requirements, with usage quotas and cost controls.

Engineering & Delivery

  • Maintain platform reliability, implement safeguards for agents taking actions in business systems, and resolve incidents affecting shared AI services.
  • Review designs and code, maintain engineering documentation, and apply development, testing and release standards. Partner with business, product and technology teams on requirements, integration testing and delivery.
  • Assess build-versus-buy options and conduct technical due diligence with external vendors.

Business Impact & Adoption

  • Identify suitable AI use cases with business teams and develop minimum viable products (MVPs) or proofs of concept (POCs) to test value before scaling. Recommend rule-based or manual approaches where more appropriate.
  • Agree success measures and baselines, track adoption and business impact, and improve solutions after launch. Explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and support training and adoption among store and frontline teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable engineering experience.
  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience, including 1–2 years building and deploying AI applications, or equivalent demonstrable experience. A proven record of delivering LLM applications, with clear examples of your contributions, outcomes and production incident resolution.
  • Experience in retail, luxury or consumer businesses, or integrating core systems such as POS, CRM, ERP or supply chain platforms is preferred.
  • Experience delivering shared AI services, enterprise AI assistants or highly available backend services is preferred.
  • Experience with model gateways, routing, rate limiting or usage and cost monitoring is an advantage.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend or full-stack programming language, such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript or TypeScript, with the ability to make ongoing, hands-on coding contributions.
  • Sound knowledge of enterprise APIs, databases, access controls and system integration, with the ability to design reliable, performant and maintainable solutions.
  • Ability to break down technical work, review solutions and code, explain integration requirements and technical trade-offs, and maintain clear technical documentation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to work across functions, locations and cultural backgrounds.
  • A proactive approach to learning, with a sustained interest in emerging AI technologies and the ability to apply new technologies, tools and business knowledge to practical work.
  • Fluent English and working proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin are required.
