Director, Retail Merchandising

About the Job

This is a leadership role to support the group in the development of merchandising strategies in line with financial and business objectives. 

The successful caliber will define the strategic direction, lead the merchandising team to improve the business performance and take part in setting product merchandising plan.  S/he will identify and analyze business needs, investigate the effectiveness of merchandising processes and propose solution in accordance with the group’s strategies.  S/he will also manage the merchandising line plans and execute the assortment strategies.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Formulate and execute merchandising strategies for Asia Region.
  • Identify potential gaps in the product line plan, make recommendations for improving the assortment for the markets.
  • Establish and implement the product vision, strategies and merchandising plans.
  • Collaborate with Go-To-Market functions to ensure orchestration of integrated product launches, seasonal campaigns and other sales initiatives.
  • Own the merchandising calendar - directly responsible for managing team adherence to the critical deadlines of assigned area, including how to assort the merchandise and present the products to maximize the appeal to customers.
  • Bring customer and market perspectives to the design and product development process. Thoroughly understands the different brand's target customer by tracking attitude and lifestyle trends.
  • Drive continuous improvement of merchandising systems/processes (e.g. OTB management, sales modeling and forecasting, market intelligence) to optimize the business.
  • Build a high performing team and create individual/team goals based on performance metrics.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above.
  • Minimum 10 years’ merchandising experience in multinational companies, preferably from retail or luxury goods environment.
  • Deep knowledge of local/regional and Greater China markets.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (OTB, Margin, Inventory calculations) within different business models.
  • Excellent communication skills and negotiation skills to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Resourceful, energetic, result-oriented with strong business acumen.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Good command of Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.
  • Willing to travel.
